Volunteering makes Scouts possible

Anyone aged 18 years and over is welcome to join Scouting as a leader or adult helper. No experience is required and training will be provided.

There are many roles to choose from based on your interest and commitment.

You can directly make a difference in a child’s Scouting journey while enjoying adventurous, challenging and fun activities yourself!

How can you help?

Group Support Committee

To ensure that our Leaders have the resources available to provide awesome programs for your child/children, the Group Support Committee has important responsibilities:

Group Support Committee are responsible for:

  • Managing the Scout Group

  • Maintaining the resources of the Group (human, physical & financial)

  • Raising funds and administering the Group finances

  • Public relations (Group Newsletter, Website, Media, etc)

  • Assisting in the recruitment of Leaders and other adult support.

Adult Leader

As a Leader at Buddha’s Light Scout Group you get to help run weekly meetings, go away on amazing camps and outings and just have a heap of fun!

In return for your efforts the Group will provide training (e-Learning and practical) so you can play the part, and we will continue to support you so you can ease into the role you choose. This means you get to feel like you are part of not only Buddha’s Light Scouts but also the wider Scouting community.

Assistant Adult Leader

The Assistant Leaders provide support to the Leader of each of the sections. The assistants play an active role in the development and delivery of the programs provided each week. All Leaders at Buddha’s Light Scouts are part of the overall Leadership Team for the Group.

Parent Helper

Any parent of the group may become a parent helper. The duties of a parent helper are to help out on section day, activities, camps or transport.

An extra pair of eyes also helps to keep our youth safe and you get to learn about Scouting through a hands on experience.

To assist on a regular basis or help on Camps you will need a Working with Children card which can be applied at any Australia Post outlet. Your Group Leader will have to sign off in one of the sections of the application form before you apply.
